Man, there's like no fiction getting posted here recently. Sorry.

I return! *bows* Well, technically I returned yesterday, but there's always stuff to catch up on after being away so I was kind of busy. Also, I hadn't checked LJ or my email since last Monday, so I had a lot of backlog to go through. *grins*

My convention was very good! A little colder than I would have liked as there's walking both from the hotel to the convention and from one part of the convention to another (it takes up half of a convention centre and public rooms in three different hotels), but there was no rain which I count as a win. Our costumes turned out well, although we were totally working on them right up until the moment we left the hotel, which is always a bummer. So many little details that take four million times longer than you expect them to. I do not have pictures yet because I was not the person whose camera was used, but I shall try to post some on the weekend.

And I have nothing else to say!

Cannot wait to see the pics!

And, if you're complaining about no fic... there's one way to remedy that....

*sits back and waits for clef to post 100 words of schmoop, just for the heck of it*

:)

Technically I'm apologizing for there being no fic up here. I haven't posted anything since the end of March! Although April was totally bigbang writing, so it's not like I didn't do anything - just nothing postable.

You know very well that I'm supposed to be doing, like, four million different challenges right now. I shouldn't be writing other stuff not on the...

Oh, fuck it. *hand wavy gesture* Go on then: give me a prompt for short schmoop.

What were you cosplayed in? :D
I come from a generation where there were 84 Sailor Moons and 250 San Goku at one cons so I am always curious to see what is the new trend in Cosplay ^^
It's great to see you had fun! ♥

We did two different versions of Sora (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100721211347/kingdomhearts/images/0/0b/Sora_Kingdom_Hearts_II.jpg) from the video game Kingdom Hearts. The game is several years old now, so it wasn't the most popular set of costumes this year, but still fun.

*laughs* I remember those days as well. Sailor Moon and Dragonball are actually becoming the minority now, which I still find very strange. This year's big things were Homestuck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homestuck) and Adventure Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_time) - neither of which are animes, oddly enough. I took lots of pictures of some really great costumes, though. :)

Adventure Time is pretty easy to cosplay, that can explain the success ^^
Ah, Sora! Here's a character I know :) I always feel happy when I can identify a cosplay. I used to be able to recognize every character but not anymore ^^

I'm slowly but surely starting the 8th color art of your BB. I'm waiting everything to be finished to send you the art (well, the first part anyway ♥ )

*nods* A lot of the popular ones tend to be the easier costumes - some of the costume designs are bloody impossible to recreate and you don't need to be a master costumer to do Homestuck t-shirts or whatever.

I spend most of the convention either being excited when I see someone I recognize or irritated by the 'I should know who that is, but I don't know why, someone HELP' reaction. Also, there is a sadly increasing number that I don't recognize; I'm not nearly as up with my anime/manga/video games as I used to be. Some of the costumes are just amazing though, even the ones I don't know.

You are just amazing and I am getting totally spoiled here. ^_^ I am very much looking forward to seeing everything!

Yay, sounds like you had a good time!

There's no fiction getting posted anywhere right now, so that's okay -- I think everyone is busy with Big Bang and springfling etc :)

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

This con's always a good time - this was my tenth (!) year attending and it's always a fun one to come back to. I'm also a big fan of dressing up in silly clothes, so it works out. *grins*

It seems truly unfair that I spent most of April writing and, at the moment, have nothing to show for it. Makes me look so lazy!

Riiiight, springfling. I should get on that. :P

Sounds like you had blast, I'm glad the weather was on your side. Was there something in particular you were looking forward to? I've only been to one convention but it was a lot of fun and there was a lot for sale that I wouldn't find easily in shops or even online.

I have to admit that it was kind of chilly - especially lining up to get our convention badges on Thursday! - but I'd honestly rather it be a little on the cool side than dealing with HOT weather. Really unpleasant, especially when in costume.

I actually bought nearly nothing this year, which is weird for me. There were a couple of anime movies I was looking for, but they charge so much for them that I figured I'd be better off buying them on Amazon. I used to come home from this convention desperately poor every year, but I find that they have less stuff that I am both interested in and can't get elsewhere at better prices than they used to. Also, some of their prices are BRUTAL. Someone had the official Sting replica from the Hobbit and they were charging $250 for it. I got it off ThinkGeek for $130, plus a discount. *shakes head*

Most of what I like about this convention is the atmosphere: there are between 20-25,000 people there every day and they're all mad as march hares. A good third of people come in costume (it's a lot of fun to see which cosplays you recognize!) and everyone else has their geek chic on. They also do tv/movie showings as well as AMV contests and etc. It's just a fun, crazy weekend.

I'm not worried that you haven't posted fic, because I'm SO excited about your big bang I can hardly stand it! I was so very disappointed that your posting date is at the very end, though!

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

Hey, at least a late posting date gives me plenty of time to make sure it's freaking awesome worth the wait. *laughs*

And there will be stuff going up between now and then! Just maybe a little closer to 'then' than 'now'. orz
