Title: To the Stars and Back
Author: [livejournal.com profile] cleflink
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] cryptaniac
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: NC-17
Word count: ~58,700 words (How did that, I don't even...)
Warnings: J2 in space, violence, sex, swearing
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang's 2011 round. Complete notes can be found here.

Summary: 90% of the human race thinks the Solar System is an alien free zone. They're all wrong, but luckily there are people around who make sure that what they don't known can't hurt them. Jensen was one of these people until his job got axed, but he and his Earth boyfriend, Jared, are about to have the chance to change that. Question is, how will a relationship based primarily on clever banter and really hot sex fare when they're dealing with a conspiracy that threatens the safety of the entire world?

I legit made dolphin noises of glee right now. I was JUST thinking, "Damn, I need more space AU J2 in my life" and here it is. Like MAGIC.

I have not even read it yet and I am already desperately in love with you for writing it.

Personally, I cannot believe there isn't more gay secret agent space AU fiction in the world. It really should be a more popular genre.

It was a blast to write so I sincerely hope you enjoy actually reading it as well. ^_^

It was a hell of a ride, but mostly satisfying from my end.

Thanks very much and I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^_^

I'm only on pg. 21, but I wanted to drop you a line, to tell you how much I'm loving the Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibe. :)

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

I have absolutely no idea where p. 21 gets you in the downloadable version, but Jared says at least they're not actively trying to kill each other (because that would be awkward).

I hope you enjoy the rest! ^_^

I read this on an e-reader and am finally coming back to leave feedback - I really enjoyed this a lot. Thanks.

My favorite part about this pic was the epic BANTER. I had so much fun reading and laughing :D

You know it's true love when you can insult each other as a sign of affection. Also, it might be in their job description to be able to throw off a witty quip at any given opportunity.

I'm very glad you enjoyed! Thank you! ^_^

Snagged the PDF. Thanks for making one. Loved the bantering in this story! And the love behind it!

You're very welcome! They definitely banter because they love (and because banter is always appropriate if you're a highly trained, interplanetary spy).

Thank you!

I was sitting in the living room reading this on my kindle and my husband walks past and says, "What are you grinning about?" I had to answer, "The dialog in this story!"

Truly loved the banter and the characters and the hidden layers to them, and the plot...All around grade A!

Stupidly late response! Apologies! *sheepish*

The banter in this one had a life of its own at times; I really didn't intend for the story to be this long! You know what they're like once they get started, though.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed!

I am 2/3 the way through the ePUB and I have to agree with the other posts. LOVE the story, LOVE the banter!

But I think there are still errors in the ePUB. I'm still getting random numbers, line breaks and the separators are not in the right spots... stuff like
"Jensen took a firm 6

hold of his nerves before ..."
If you want some help I'd be happy to take a look at fixing it for ya. (Raining today so can't get my planned gardening done...)
Edit: I downloaded the version I'm reading on Aug 11, and another on Aug 16 and both seem to have the errors.

Hi!

Sorry about the trouble with the epub file - someone else converted it for me and I didn't own a program that could open epubs at the time, so I couldn't check to see how it looked. It is kind of a mess, isn't it? The random numbers are the page numbers from the PDF version, I'm pretty sure, but I've got no idea why the section breaks are all in the wrong place. Sorry! It must be very frustrating to read!

I can't fix it myself, unfortunately, but if you'd be willing to help that would be lovely. :) Email me at cleflinks [at] gmail [dot] com and I can send you the original word file, if that's easier. In the meantime, I'm going to take that link down since it's clearly not worth the frustration.

Thank you for letting me know!

No worries! I was supper glad there was an ePUB period.
And its common enough to have errors....I'm just glad when an effort is made. I love ePUB. (email sent) :)
