To that end, I have some cosplay pictures to share!

At the end of May (because that's how on top of these things I am right now), I went to my local anime convention with my sister. And we did The Labyrinth!

My sister! Being a very sharp-looking Goblin King! Her wig is a little too light, sadly, but people still recognized her so it's not that bad.

You get no photos of just me because I apparently looked like I had jaundice since I'd been getting no sleep for, like, two months, and so all the pictures look awful. :( But here we both are in all our 1980s glory!

And speaking of the 1980s! How about a couple of other people's costumes that brought me right back to my childhood?
I missed him again!? (Presumably, only the Canadians will get this one)
Go, go, Gadget arm?

Also, we managed to find some maroon corduroy for my Dragoncon costume, which is awesome. Corduroy is hard to find, yo.

ILU LJ! :)

okay so I have no idea about Labrynth, but that's a pretty cool costume!

That may be the saddest thing I have ever heard (that you haven't seen The Labyrinth, not that you like the costumes). It's a fantasy movie created by Jim Henson and starring David Bowie as the Goblin King who steals children and turns them into goblins. It is THE BEST.

haha sorry to make you sad. See I'm not usually a big fantasy fan - only some thing, but I will check it out!

*laughs* That is okay, I will forgive you. If it seems at all your thing though, I definitely recommend giving it a try. How can you go wrong with David Bowie and muppets? :)

I feel like a bad Canadian because I didn't get it lol. But Labyrinth is awesome!!

Hi, you! <3

*laughs* That's Polkaroo, from Polka Dot Door, which Wikipedia tells me was on TVOntario from 1971-1993. So maybe it's only something Ontarians would get?

Labyrinth is super awesome! :D

Well, hey there, pretty lady. ;)

I can't recall actually WATCHING the Polka Dot Door but now I have the theme song stuck in my head so I guess I must have! Haha

IDK, bb, I think you look great. The baby you're holding doesn't look all that healthy, though . . . ;)

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

I dunno, all my solo shots look really drawn and exhausted (which, to be fair, I kind of was but I thought it wasn't so obvious). I look nothing like myself in that wig though, it's really weird.

Ahaha, yeah, Toby got left in the dirt a couple of times. Clearly I am not a very responsible baby minder.

Hahah, I still have not seen that movie, but this is a great Bowie nonetheless. :D

Y'all are kind of breaking my heart; this might actually be my favourite movie of all time and I cannot share that joy. Hooray for Bowie love, though! :D

Hearts!

I'M SORRY! I have always intended to see it at some point...it's just never happened. WHAT CAN YOU DO?

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

I feel like I need to orchestrate an online Labyrinth viewing party. TO EDUCATE YOU ALL. Because you have no joy in your life without this movie and you don't even know it. It is tragic.

I love seeing your costumes, I'm always incredibly impressed with your skill. But I am confused... is that you or not in the second Labrynth picture? I keep telling my daughter that she HAS to see Labrynth, but we keep not getting around to it.

:)

Yes, that is me playing Sarah (relatedly, I am never doing a costume with a long wig again - they're such a pain in the ass!). I just don't like the solo shots of me, so you get a solo of my sis, but not me.

She really does have to see it. It is THE BEST. And ages surprisingly well! Aside from the fashion. *grins*

You look wonderful and I love your costumes! Labyrinth is one of the best 80's films ever, ah the childhood memories :D Thanks for taking me back.

From: [identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com

It is definitely still one of my favourite movies. And it ages surprisingly well!

You are most welcome! And I'm glad you enjoyed the costumes! :)
