Summary: Jensen hates superheroes. Having grown up with not one, but two, of them in the family, he's more than aware of just how much having a spandex-clad alter ego can cock up the rest of your life. Luckily, his own powers tend towards the more passive, hippie florist side of things which - while embarrassing - means that all that superhero crap is someone else's problem.

Or it would, if not for the frequent interference of superhero-obsessed friends, hostage situations, hotshot new superheroes and irritating relatives. Not to mention a boyfriend who has the uncanny ability to go missing whenever bad things are going down somewhere else in the city.

Sometimes, Jensen's life is kind of bullshit.

This was so great. I loved their snarky banter and the way you built us up to expect a certain plot twist but then went in a completely different direction in the end. Certainly kept me on the edge of my seat! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Jared is now somewhat mollified by the fact that, even if the 'secret' part didn't work out so well, at least he still manages to be surprising.

I'm glad to hear it! I expect there's going to be some incredibly memorable 'meet the family' moments and some manly bonding with Gunner in the near future, though it's probably going to be some time before Jensen and Jared really sort out how they're going to deal with Jared's not-secret job and Jensen's not-superhero status.

It took a while but I'm catching up slowly to all the great summer fics. This was fantastic! Just superb. Easily the funniest and most character-driven J2 I've read in a while. Your Jensen was a pure, cranky delight. He was pitch perfect. I found myself both hoping and not hoping that Jared was a super. I loved the world building. It was so easy to just see it all. And Jensen's power. And the surprise ending. And the last line! Bravo!!!

Aw, thank you, hon! I love me some cranky Jensen, especially since he does so well with snark as a default setting. Mostly I just like to put him and Jared in a room and ~~watch them have sex~~ let their senses of humour bounce off each other. Also, I feel like I should write more stories that end with swear words.
