I've had several PMs and comments about this recently, so I want to take a minute to discuss my policy on translations.

Hi guys, just wanted to let people who are interested know that [livejournal.com profile] stormbrite and I posted our [livejournal.com profile] j2_reversebang collaboration last night.

Summary: Even for New York, a wizard duel between a giant goth and a graffiti-slinging hobo is beyond weird. Maybe if Jensen's lucky, he's hallucinating the entire thing.

(Two posts in one week? What is the world coming to?)

I just wanted to let people know that today is the last day to bid in [livejournal.com profile] herminekurotowa's Fandom Auction to help [livejournal.com profile] bt_kady. Check out the main auction page and my thread here.

Also, if anyone else wants a Christmas card, please let me know so that I can still mail it with a chance of it arriving before Christmas. Drop me your address here if you're interested.

That is all!

Hello to all my friends, old and new!

I have been utterly remiss in not posting about this sooner; I blame June for being utter bullshit.

Some very talented people have podficced some of my stories recently! \o/

Point the first!
[livejournal.com profile] jagnikjen created a podfic of my Mycroft-centric story En Passant for the most recent round of [livejournal.com profile] holmestice. Her Mycroft voice is wonderfully precise and crisp, and she makes what is, admittedly, a rather wordy story, flow very nicely. You can download it to listen here!

Point the second!
In a somewhat convoluted turn of events, [livejournal.com profile] electricmonk333 won [livejournal.com profile] applegeuse's podficcing services in a fandom auction and ended up getting a podfic of my story, Learn to Glow for Others' Good, AND both timestamps. Which means that I am the luckiest chick in the world, basically. :D [livejournal.com profile] applegeuse has a beautifully measured reading style, and she does a particularly amazing job at Jensen's voice, which I can't expect is easy. The contrast between Jensen's monotone and Jared's exuberance is great to listen to. You can access all three podfics on AO3 here!
I know I'm not usually one to signal boost, but I think I've got a couple other Trekkies on my flist and they are so close to making their goal that I want to try and help.

For the Love of Spock: A Documentary

This project is something that Leonard Nimoy was working on with his son, Adam, before he passed away. Adam is now trying to get the funds necessary to make it a reality. I would love to see this documentary get made and, hopefully, some of y'all would too.

Hi all,

A kind soul on AO3 brought this issue to my attention yesterday and, since I haven't seen it appear on my LJ flist yet, I thought I would signal boost the information.

There is a website called Ebooks Tree that has been taking ebook files from various places - including AO3 - and putting them up for 'free' download for their paying customers. This is happening to published authors as well as fanfic writers, so it's kind of a big deal, but AO3 is advising any writers whose work appears on this website to submit a DMCA complaint in the hopes that it might galvanize the website to do something.

There is more information about how to go about doing this here and here.

*heavy sigh* The Internet is such a bullshit place, sometimes.

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] siennavie because why not: When you see this, share 3 random snippets from 3 WIPs.

Sherlock crouched low over the newest body in a lovely little serial killer case, nearly nose-to-nose with the corpse as he examined the ligature marks around the fleshy neck. Dark things skittered across his fingers and curled in the lees and valleys of the woman's clothing, cooing with soft, happy malice.

It was just a late lunch. At Jared's favourite bakery. With a guy he really liked. Who'd been coffee flirting with him for the past five weeks instead of just asking if he could borrow Jared's dick for a few hours, like he used to do. Which Jared definitely wasn't falling for. Because he was not that easy.

"You say one word that's meant to make me feel better and I will stab you," Jensen warned, in Dean's serious as shit voice. Say what you would about the guy, Dean knew how to sound like he was five seconds from eviscerating someone. "Okay? I will stab you."

Also, for anyone who missed it, my [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang story got posted this morning! Yay! Somewhere Between Hell and the Sky which is straight up Wincest dragon apocalypse AU. You didn't even know you were missing that in your life, did you?

As most of you are probably aware, there has been a recent rush of concern about fanfics being listed on Goodreads without the permission of the authors. I was one such author, and so I emailed Goodreads to ask them to remove my stories from their site. The company was very good about it and, as of this morning, my stories are no longer listed on Goodreads. Yay!

This post is a request to anyone who added my stories to Goodreads to please NOT DO IT AGAIN. I appreciate that, by putting my work in the public domain, I am leaving myself open to people doing what they want with it, regardless of my wishes, but I hope that you will be willing to respect my rights as the author of these stories.

I am not comfortable with my works of fanfiction being listed on a site that is primarily for published, original work.

I have several stories that I genuinely wish to adapt for original fiction one day and I do NOT want the existence of the fanfic versions so easily discovered by non-fandom people.

If you do like my work and want to keep track of it, there are plenty of fandom-specific options: friend my LJ account; subscribe to my AO3 page; start your own pinboard or delicious account and use to it bookmark all of your favourite fics.

PLEASE don't list any more of my works on Goodreads. And please listen to anyone else who says the same about their own work. Keep it in the fandom, folks.

Thank you.
Somehow, I feel like the titles of half my posts makes the posts themselves largely superfluous. Oh well.

Like it says, this is last call for Christmas cards, largely because I'll never get them sent if I don't set myself a deadline. Each card will come with a little J2 Christmas ficlet from me, because I have a) an unposted J2 Christmas ficlet and b) a ton of Christmas stationary that I am not using. I am more than happy to send cards to whomever would like them, even if we don't know each other very well because, honestly, I know practically no one very well.

Go here to leave your address if you so desire!

Wow, remember me? I didn't think so.

I'd say that it's pretty obvious that I'm not doing a great job (or any job at all, really), of updating this journal. Sorry! I shall try to be more on top of that in the New Year. If you're interested in my work, I hope that you're keeping an eye on either my LJ or my AO3 account, as they both get updated with much more regular frequency.

And now for the real purpose of this post: CHRISTMAS CARDS!

If you'd like a Christmas card from me in exotic Canada, simply comment with your address and the name you'd like on the envelope. Comments are screened.
...or is the other way around? HMMM.

So I very rarely signal boost because I'm really lazy, but this looks awesome and I love [livejournal.com profile] tebtosca very much, so here you go!

Hello all!

For anyone who missed it, I finally posted my spn_j2_bigbang story yesterday, in accompaniment with some absolutely stunning art by the magnificent [livejournal.com profile] petite_madame! I very sincerely hope you all enjoy it.

The Beat of Our Noisy Hearts - Jared/Jensen AU
In a world where heartbreak is a literal condition, it's Jared's job to sew, fill and patch the physical wounds left in people's hearts by lost loves, misunderstandings and betrayals. Jared's own love life is mostly at the pining like a fifteen year old girl stage, largely because Jensen doesn't date and Jared doesn't do one-night stands, but he's got good friends and a job he loves, so he figures that he can't complain too much.

When a killer attacks Jensen, Jared discovers that a needle and thread, desperation and a sharp scalpel are enough to save Jensen's life, but at a cost that is going to change Jared's life forever and tie them both together in a way that goes far deeper than flesh.

And for your viewing pleasure, here are some celebratory cinnamon stars baked by my sister in honour of the occasion! )
Reblogging from shycustis on tumblr:

Do you remember SOPA? The bill that would give government the right to spy on internet activity without warrant, and let them censor “unwanted” sites by blocking people’s access to them?

Meet its twin. But this time it’s all the more frightening; the House has passed it despite Obama’s threats to veto. And by an alarmingly large margin, at that. CISPA threatens the US constitution’s guarantees of due privacy and free speech, permitting any government agency to access and transfer of vast amounts of data- from internet records to even the content of personal e-mails, and all without obtaining a warrant.

What’s even more disgusting than this bill actually making through the House is some of the arguments used to help it’s passage, and comments made by one of the bill’s biggest supporters admitting the bill helps big business while insulting opposers (whose is also speculated to have personal reasons for wanting CISPA made into law).

This threatens every element of your online presence. From personal emails to general activity, any government agency will have the ability to go fishing without consequence.

Please, PLEASE, sign the following petitions. You don’t even have to be a US citizen to sign most of them or act against CISPA, and please keep in mind that if this shit flies in America, who knows what country might use its example to do it, too.

Petition: Avaaz: Save the Internet from the US
(you don’t have to be a US citizen to sign this)

Petition: Sites Not Spies
(you don’t have to be a US citizen to sign this)

Petition: CISPA is Back: Write Congress

Petition: Tell Mike Rogers more that 14-year-olds oppose CISPA
(you don’t have to be a US citizen to sign this)

Twitter: Tweet @RepMikeRogers with your age
Twitter: Tweet @BarackObama and tell him to veto CISPA
Twitter: Tweet reps like @RepDelBene, @GovHankJohnson, @KeithEllison and @GovGaryJohnson and thanks them for acting against CISPA. Look for other reps that have spoken against it, and thank them.

Call your reps: and tell them you strongly oppose the bill. You can look up your reps using the form on the lower portion of this page.

Reblog: This and other posts like it to raise awareness of this threat to internet freedom and privacy.

Bidding for the AO3 Author Auction has opened! Bid on your favourite authors to earn fic in support of a great cause! You don't need a tumblr account to participate. All proceeds go to help support the wonderful Archive of Our Own. You can place bids from April 15-25.

My thread is here for those who are interested. There are a lot of other great authors up for grabs as well, so take a look!

Someone bid on me please?
Calling all authors! The AO3 Fundraiser Auction is looking for authors to contribute their services to helping raise money for the Archive of Our Own. Authors can throw their names into the pot up until April 11. The auction lists go live on April 15, at which point everyone can start bidding to get a story from their favourite author(s). I have, perhaps foolishly, offered up my own services, and I'd love to see some of y'all joining in as well!

Details can be found here.

In other news, I have not finished my rough draft for bigbang. This should surprise no one.
I don't know that there are many people on my flist for whom this is an interest, but it's awesome so I'm going to promote it anyway.

You guys, you guys! Guess what awesome thing [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7 has done?

She has created this beautiful piece of art for my and [livejournal.com profile] onceuponarhi's RBB story The Heart of Everything!

This piece is just stunning, guys, for serious. I have been reliably informed that there are four million different greens in there to get Jensen's scales and wings looking awesome and shaded and LOVELY. And there is sprawled on the floor Jared, which the world can always do with more of, and he is wearing a VEST and his legs are long and gorgeous, and I want to ruffle his hair. And Jensen's face is so very much a Jensen face while still being, well, dragon face. Eyebrows FTW!

So go look and be delighted and tell [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7 how much she has delighted you. Go!

Just a quick note to say thank you to all of you lovely people who wished me a happy birthday yesterday; it was a surprise and a delight to receive all your well-wishes. It was a very nice birthday: I spent the day playing board games (anyone else tried 'Defenders of the Realm'? It was good fun), then went out dancing in the evening. FUN FOR EVERYONE! Aand, I wrote nothing. Oops?

Thank you to: [livejournal.com profile] becc_j, [livejournal.com profile] 2people2, [livejournal.com profile] ldyavalon, [livejournal.com profile] akintay, [livejournal.com profile] heartblowswild and [livejournal.com profile] enablelove for the birthday wishes and [livejournal.com profile] tebtosca, [livejournal.com profile] blackrabbit42, [livejournal.com profile] equally_dour, [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte, [livejournal.com profile] ordinaryink and [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7 for the birthday wishes and v-gifts! You're all fantastic! HUGS.

Also, thank you to everyone who has voted in my poll. Being the contrary whatsit than I am, it kind of makes me want to turn Jensen into Professor Layton, but it truly is quite helpful even if I do kind of want to write all of them, now.

And a Happy New Year to everyone!
Is this a bad idea? Someone should tell me if this is a bad idea.

my thread here

Concrit and love are both gratefully accepted!
