Hello to all my friends, old and new!

I have been utterly remiss in not posting about this sooner; I blame June for being utter bullshit.

Some very talented people have podficced some of my stories recently! \o/

Point the first!
[livejournal.com profile] jagnikjen created a podfic of my Mycroft-centric story En Passant for the most recent round of [livejournal.com profile] holmestice. Her Mycroft voice is wonderfully precise and crisp, and she makes what is, admittedly, a rather wordy story, flow very nicely. You can download it to listen here!

Point the second!
In a somewhat convoluted turn of events, [livejournal.com profile] electricmonk333 won [livejournal.com profile] applegeuse's podficcing services in a fandom auction and ended up getting a podfic of my story, Learn to Glow for Others' Good, AND both timestamps. Which means that I am the luckiest chick in the world, basically. :D [livejournal.com profile] applegeuse has a beautifully measured reading style, and she does a particularly amazing job at Jensen's voice, which I can't expect is easy. The contrast between Jensen's monotone and Jared's exuberance is great to listen to. You can access all three podfics on AO3 here!
Title: I Go to the Sea
Fandom: CWRPS
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: PG
Word count: 4700
Warnings: Dark-ish; dub-con kissing; body horror; internalized, period-typical homophobia
A/N: This story was written last September for [livejournal.com profile] petite_madame, who had a shitty 2015. As she is a lovely and talented lady who deserves all the good things in the world, a bunch of us got together to create stuff to brighten her day and let her know how much we appreciate her. Almost at the same time as I originally posted this story, I also got a more-than-full time job and totally forgot that I never reposted. So here it is, slightly revamped from the original. Also available on AO3.

PM has a fondness for dark, slightly gory stuff, which you probably all know isn't exactly my forte. :P I did my best though, and this is what I came up with.

Inspired by two of PM's stunning pieces of artwork: this one, and also a little bit this one.

Summary: All Jensen had ever wanted was a chance to sail the circle seas. And if marrying Danneel and letting her protect his heartstone every time he left port was the only way to do that, then so be it.

You must never go to sea unless you have someone special on land to protect your heartstone for you )
If you haven't seen it yet, you absolutely have to check out the beautiful painting that [livejournal.com profile] becc_j did for me as part of my Christmas present.

Guitar Lesson

It was inspired by my story Gently Play Upon Your Heartstrings, and depicts a lovely moment between the boys.

Flailing under the cut )
This should not have taken nearly so long to get written.

Title: Volunteer Firemen Do It for Free!
Fandom: CW RPS
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Rating: G
Word count: 1330
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] ordinaryink who asked for J2 and kittens! Sorry it took so long, hon!

Summary: There were a pair of legs hanging out of the tree on Jensen's front lawn.

So are you actually a firefighter or is that the kitten-in-tree equivalent of a superhero name? )
Happy New Year all! I hope it was enjoyable for everyone!

So the first order of business is a great big thank you to Kleenexwoman for writing to my prompt for Sara Bareilles' song Fairytales. Her fantastic story, Fairytales, figures the various princesses as participants in a reality show and looks at the darker side of the happily ever after that each of them was hoping to get. She neatly intertwines the original fairy tales, the song lyrics and her own unique spin on their stories into a whole that is bittersweet but ultimately lovely. This is really clever.

I was at once more and less productive than usual this year. I only wrote my main assignment, since I somehow managed to be both incredibly busy and a major slacker this Christmas season, but it's definitely the longest thing I've ever written in such a short time. It probably could have been easily twice the length if I'd left myself enough time to get really into it, but overall I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. This was a great opportunity to a) challenge myself to write in the first person and b) be as sarcastic as humanly possible. I also got to use my fairy encylopedia as a research tool which is always a bonus in my book.

Title: Rhyme without Reason 1/2
Fandom: Dresden Files by Jim Butcher -- If you like magic in the modern world, witty narration and/or detective stories, you should read these books. Seriously.
Rating: G
Characters: Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, Thomas Raith, Mouse
Word count: 10,304 total *fist pump*

Summary: Takes place a few months after the events of Blood Rites. Harry's got a new dog, a new brother and a slew of cases that centre around vanishing animals with anger management issues. Sometimes his life is weird even for him.

It probably said something disturbing about my life that a homicidal goose didn't even rank in the top end of my weird stuff that happens to Harry Dresden meter )

Late as always, but now that the reveal's happened at Yuletide, I can officially thank the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] gryvon for the fantastic story she wrote for me. Coming to Rest is a beautiful (and sexy!) fic for the oneshot manga A Sex Therapist that looks at the beginnings of Bar Kain and the relationship between Kain and Tsuzuki, the owner of the cafe upstairs (which is lovely). If you like hurt/comfort fic, falling in love and first time sex, you should read this fic!

Also! [livejournal.com profile] skeren sent me a lovely little Zack/Cloud picture for Christmas that I have uploaded here for your viewing pleasure. ([livejournal.com profile] skeren, there were some fairly deep folds in the paper and I tried to remove the worst of the creasing in Photoshop - let me know if you'd rather have a copy sans my edits and I'll send you the original instead).

Personally, I managed four fics for Yuletide this year - my assignment and three pieces for Yuletide Madness - which I'll be stagger uploading here over the next couple of days. Oh yes, and the December issue's up at [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu and it has some really fantastic pieces in it (and mine too). Check it out if you've time!

Whee! Feeling very loved right now. Not only have I received all sorts of lovely comments on my FFVII story for Y_C (which is bunnying me like woah and dammit I need to find time to do some writing), but the lovely and talented Shadeling has drawn me a picture to go with the story!

It's rather further into the story than what I've posted so far, but it is awesome and super cool and is right here. *makes hand waving motions* Go see!
